I don't quite understand the whole blow up of the Ender's Game movie. People are entitled to hold their opinions as long as they don't threaten immediate violence, and we can agree or disagree with said opinions. We disagree with ideas, not individuals. And in the case of writers, authorial intentions should exist outside of our textual interpretations. To indulge in metaphor, Theodore Roosevelt being a racist jerk doesn't change some of the decent things he did for the world (although he was seriously a pretty big jerk, I wrote a paper about it once).

I suppose the main issue is if we are "financially endorsing" some disagreeable opinion and thus implicitly support it, as is the nature of our capitalist social arrangements. And I would argue that Ender's Game makes no explicitly homophobic remarks, and we can safely make an economic endorsement of its artistry separate from the political views of its author.
